Originally begun in 1800 to honor our nation’s first president, George Washington, the Presidents’ Day holiday evolved to what we know today. On the third Monday in February, we honor all who have served as the United States of America’s President. The day we celebrate the holiday on was changed in 1971 from George Washington’s actual birthday of February 22 to the third Monday of the month; this created a popular three-day weekend for the workforce. Learn more about our American presidents here at the White House history website.
“The SHOT Show is the once-a-year gathering place for the shooting, hunting and outdoor industry—manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers, publishers and non-profit organizations. It’s where a passion for firearms, ammunition and outdoor equipment, plus the industry’s unified support for the Second Amendment, are on display.” — the NSSF The Firearm Industry Trade Association
Yes, there’s a LOT of walking (think MILES per day, step count is for sissies) required at the annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade Show (SHOT Show) in Las Vegas. SHOT Show is SO big it’s in TWO convention centers – the Venetian Expo and Caesars Forum with a bridge to connect it all. Showcasing over 2,700 exhibitors in 2026, we attend every year to see and learn about the newest products and innovations in the firearms industry. Then, we bring some of the best items to our shop for you! Come in today and ask what we brought back for you this year from SHOT Show.

What do you do with a firearm you do not want or need? Maybe you inherited a loved one’s collection. Perhaps you have an old, unwanted, or unsafe firearm or ammunition in your home and simply want peace of mind.

As we celebrate the holiday season, we want to say THANK YOU to all of our Gun Cleaners of Colorado customers! And we THANK everyone in our military — those currently serving our nation & our veterans. Here’s a little history from the U.S. Department of War about major military events that happened on Christmas Day.

First known as Armistice Day in 1919, a day commemorating everyone who fought in WWI, Veterans Day is our opportunity to remember and be thankful for all the military personnel who have served our country. Learn more about the history of Veterans Day here. And, click here to read about famous veterans with ties to Colorado.

We’d like to share this article from our friends at the United States Concealed Carry Association about famous firearms in history. From flintlock muskets, George Washington’s saddle pistols, to the firearm that discharged the first shot at Bunker Hill, this article is a quick read and lets you know where to go to see the firearms on display.

Every August, the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) promotes shooting sports nationwide. This month is a great opportunity. Teach a family member or friend how to safely handle a firearm. It is important to do so responsibly. Learn more here AND stop by Gun Cleaners to pick up some FREE SWAG!
