George Washington created the Badge of Military Merit (the forerunner of the Purple Heart Award) on August 7, 1782, while he was a General in the Revolutionary War. He only awarded three of them.
We thank them and their families.
If you find a Purple Heart, here’s what you can do.
August 4 is United States Coast Guard Day, which honors those who have or are serving in this branch of our military.
Even land-locked Colorado has a Coast Guard presence–CGRU USNORTHCOM–on Peterson Space Force Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Gun Cleaners of Colorado loves having a booth at the Tri-Lakes Chamber of Commerce 4th of July Street Fair every year. We meet new friends, thank our customers, and provide a wonderful photo op for families with Mike’s 1942 World War II Jeep! This year we held a drawing for a Ruger with a very patriotic finish.
How’s THIS for fireworks? Stop by the Gun Cleaners of Colorado booth at the Monument 4th of July Street Fair and enter our drawing to WIN a LIMITED EDITION stars & stripes Ruger LCP CenterFire Pistol!
Entry into the drawing is free, BUT, there is some fine print: You MUST be 21 or older to enter and only ONE entry per person; the winner MUST pass a background check; there will be a 3-day waiting period once the background check is submitted; the winner MUST pick up in person at Gun Cleaners of Colorado in Palmer Lake. A winner will be drawn and contacted on Friday, July 5, 2024, and will have 24 hours to respond. If no response is received, another winner will be drawn.
Come see Gun Cleaners of Colorado at the 4th of July Street Fair in Monument from 8am-3pm! Our 1942 World War II jeep will be in our booth (across from Hearth House, catty-corner from Limbaugh Park). Every year kids of all ages enjoy sitting in the jeep for a great family photo. And you can even take home a souvenir “army man” while supplies last.
Ever wonder how we get firearms SO clean? The secret is ultrasonic! Stop by and Mike will be on hand to answer all your questions about the process (and about the jeep’s newest restorations). We can’t wait to see you there!
June 6 will mark the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the day that 160,000 troops landed on the beaches of Normandy creating a turning point for the Allies during World War II.
Whether you have the means to “cross the pond” to learn more about World War II or not, be sure to visit the outstanding National Museum of World War II Aviation right here in Colorado Springs!
Gun Cleaners of Colorado is grateful to all who are or have served our country EVERY day, and especially today on Memorial Day. This year, the remembrance at Arlington National Cemetery will be a little more special as Arlington marks its 160th year as a national cemetery.
Time to honor and wish a “happy birthday” to our first President, George Washington! Did he really have a set of false teeth made of wood? Best to check with the experts at Mount Vernon, Washington’s home, for all the interesting things to know about George!
Everyone at Gun Cleaners of Colorado wishes all our customers and community a wonderful new year! Thank you for your business and loyalty. We appreciate your reviews on Facebook, Google, Nextdoor, and Yelp! Your recommendations to friends and fellow firearm enthusiasts are always welcome. May your sight be straight, your aim true, your groupings tight, and, of course, your firearms clean!
Whatever work you do, thank you for your hard work and contributions to our community! Did you know Colorado was among the first states to celebrate workers? In 1887 Colorado, Oregon, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York passed a law recognizing Labor Day. It’s not just the unofficial end of summer…learn more here!
